Dear GTW Sisters, This is an exciting time for Nevada County Gather the Women. Our follow-up meeting in April was very productive, with many new groups forming. Please check the list below for all the awesome possibilities in which to participate. If you feel called, there is always the opportunity to be part of the Steering Wheel, which is the core group holding us together locally. There is even a chance to attend a national gathering in Minnesota in July, see info. below. We welcome the new energy and growth you women bring to us as we "Be the change we wish to see in the world."

RITUAL....Labyrinth of Conscious Creation Sunday, May 4, 2008 in Nevada City 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

This year is the time for women’s power to step forward. Through building our labyrinth with stones on the earth we will invoke the divine feminine energy of creation. Please bring 2 river rocks (each approximately the size of 2 fists).

Our visions and prayers for a whole and balanced world will be planted as each stone is laid in place to create our labyrinth We’ll honor wise woman, Mary Jorgensen, during this ritual Just before the new moon that precedes Mother’s Day Suggested Donation of $5. Mother's Day, May 11 Although we are not having a formal gathering on Mother's Day, we ask that you take 5 minutes at 1pm our time, to focus on your vision of a world which works for our children. Please check out standingwomen.org for more info. on this event.

Be a part of the group that sources Gather the Women of Nevada County. We have many ongoing activities throughout the year, which we oversee, as well as the annual March 8th event. Everyone is welcome.

DRUM SOME FUN Thur., May 22, 6:45 - 9:00 p.m. Contact: Judith Hurley Prosser judith4u@att.net This group is more than just a drumming circle. It's a safe place to come and be who you are. We drum, we sing, we dance, we tone, we touch one another at the soul level. You are welcome to join us in the sacred space of the Center for Love and Light. PEACE ART CIRCLE Contact: Sandra Miller, 478-9550 Peace Art is moving along at a steady pace. We are working on our brochure right now. We need help making a website if anyone is interested we would welcome you. We are planning an event for 2008 not sure of the location but looking into this now. The event will be pieces of art that represent peace to you. The forms could be poetry, music dance, drawing, painting, photography, meditation etc. Basically any way one wishes to express what Peace is to them. There is another organization that is called Global Peace Art Project that was created by Katherine Josten their web site http://www.global-art.org/index.html, go look at it. We could make our event a two fold event for those who would like to do it. Every two years Global Peace Art exchanges an original piece of art with someone in another country or state and anyone who would like use the piece of art they do for our show could also use it to exchange with another person for theirs. MEDITATION CIRCLE Contact: Patt Lind-Kyle 478-9622 patt@lindandkyle.com The meditation is a form of East and West meditation using as its base the new brain research on meditation and Buddhist meditation. This group usually meets the first Wed. of the month at Patt's meditation cottage. Although currently closed, ther group will be open to new memebers next March 2008.

MONEY CIRCLE Contact: Judy Nichols, 477-9120 13447 Idaho Maryland Rd., Nevada City This is a practical circle giving insights on money, how you feel about it, how to attract it and more. Please RSVP to Judy for more info. and directions.

SACRED CIRCLE COUNCIL Contact: Janice O'Brien 265-5403 JimJan1566@aol.com This group usually meets on the third Thursday of each month. It is currently closed, as new members were added at the April 17 meeting and 12 is their limit. They use the principles of Christina Baldwin's, Calling the Circle - First and Future Culture to ask and discern solutions to personal challenges as well as community issues. This circle is what brought about Janice's involvement with starting Hospitality House - the Shelter for the Homeless.

SEED CIRCLE TO CREATE A HOLISTIC REHABILITATION CENTER Contact: Janice O'Brien 265-5403 jimjan1566@aol.com I will be putting together a Circle to discern and go forth with the dream of a holistic rehabilitation Center for alcohol and drug addiction here in Nevada County. Anyone interested in this dream to manifest please call me.

Name of Circle - Goals, Dreams, and Support, Spiritual Women's ON-LINE Circle Date and Time of Meeting - To be determined. Info about the circle: The focus of our on-line circle is to share in the giving and receiving of inspiration and encouragement for each member's goals and dreams and to nourish each member's spiritual development. This group allows women to connect on-line with each other during an ideal time that suits each woman's schedule. "Within each and every one of us lies a source of wisdom, also known as our Spirit...Regardless of our religious beliefs or disbeliefs, we must nurture this mysterious and often buried Spirit if we are to be fully alive and to experience peace...What makes women's spirituality groups distinct from therapy groups or support groups or groups of just friends is that the central purpose of the group is to nourish the member's spiritual development." CREATIVITY GROUP: There was no point person, as far as we know. So we need to let people know that if they signed up, or would like to, they can send Marilyn Nyborg (Marilyn@nydow.com) their contact info. They should also let Marilyn know if they are willing to set up the first meeting; she will forward names and contact information to that volunteer.

GTW REGIONAL COORDINATORS GATHERING Fri. July 18 - Sun. July 20 in St. Paul, Minnesota Early Registration deadline is May 15. All are welcome. This short documentary chronicles the events of the Grassroots Africa Women's Conference & tour in Dec. of 2006. This conference would not have been possible with out the efforts of Global Partners for Development, Gather the Women, and Mama na Dada Africa.
