Dear Sisters

Shall we join this Peace March as a Group of Inspired Women and Catalyst for Peace?

Who: An international delegation of 50-100 permanent marchers joined by thousands of local people in each city who are developing their own initiatives to support the theme and objectives of the march. The march is being organized by World Without Wars, an international organization based in Madrid that has been working for 15 years in the fields of pacifism and nonviolence.

What: World March for Peace and Nonviolence

Why: To call for the end of war, abolition of nuclear arms and the condemnation of all forms of violence.

Where: March will start in Wellington, New Zealand and end in Punta de Vacas, Argentina crossing ninety countries and six continents. In the US, the march will pass through New York, Washington DC, the Bay Area and Los Angeles.

When: On October 2, 2009, the day declared by the United Nations as International day of Non-violence, and the birthday of Gandhi, the World March for Peace and Non-Violence begins its journey through more than 90 countries culminating on January 2010 at Punta de Vacas, located at the foot of Mount Aconcagua, in the Andes Mountains in Argentina. The march will pass through the Bay Area December 2-3, 2009

For more information: the USA site: www.worldmarchusa.net . The international site: www.worldmarchforpeace.org Why The primary objective of the World March is to create a global conscience that universally condemns all forms of violence and to assure that the choice of millions of people in favor of peace and of non-violence is heard loud and clear, and its tangible manifestations seen worldwide.

Now more than ever the world is connected and interlinked in a complex and interdependent web. War and violence are no longer the isolated problem of those who suffer it directly, but the direct concern of all humankind. We cannot ignore the outward spiraling effects violence has on our societies, communities and families. A call for the end of war, the end of violent means of resolving conflict and the end of all forms of violence (economic, religious, racial, environmental, sexual, psychological and physical) is a call which people of all races, beliefs, and nations must take responsibility for. The result can only be of benefit for all of humanity.

Because a “world without wars” is an image that opens the future and seeks to become reality in every corner of the planet, as violence gives way to dialog.

The moment has come for the voiceless to be heard! Out of agonizing and urgent need, millions of human beings are crying out for an end to wars and violence.

. Who is participating The March was initiated by “World Without Wars,” an international organization that has been working for 15 years in the fields of pacifism and non-violence.

The World March, however, will be created and shaped by everyone. Open to any person, organization, collective, group, political party, business, etc., that shares the same aspirations and sensibility, this project is not something closed. Instead, it is a journey that will be progressively enriched as different initiatives set their contributions in motion.

That is why this is an invitation to anyone and everyone to participate freely. So that wherever the March goes, the local people can contribute their creativity in a great convergence of multiple activities. There’s space for everything the imagination is capable of conceiving.

This is a march by and for the people, with hopes of reaching most of the world’s population. For this reason we are asking all media to spread the word about this journey around the world for Peace and Non-violence.

What is going to happen In every city the March visits, local individuals and groups will organize forums, meetings, festivals, conferences, and events (sports, cultural, social, musical, artistic, educational, etc.), depending on their own creative initiative. At this time hundreds of projects have already been set in motion by different individuals and organizations. Join us! -------------------

I have committed to join as part of Buddhist Peace fellowship and aspiring to include all my communities in this historic event. I very much support the laughter meditation to infuse more joy, humor and life into the peace process.

Appreciate your cheerful attention & supportive smiles
